Geothermal energy is the heat stored in the accessible part of the lithosphere. It includes the energy stored in the earth, as far as it can be extracted and used. Geothermal Energy belongs to renewable energies.

Due to a heat pump the ground water can be used as heat source. Based on the principe of a refrigerator, geothermal energy can directly be used for heating and cooling.
